When it comes to lotion bottle design, small strategic design details can make a big difference, turning a routine task into a seamless moment. As advocates for user-focused design, the Design Central team embarked on an intentional product development process to design an elevated, easy-to-use baby lotion bottle for Junico. The result is a travel-friendly and intuitive bottle that differentiates itself on shelves.
Intentional simplicity, family-centered design, authenticity and transparency, and everyday beauty are just some of the core values of the Junico brand. Our team embraced these traits from the start, keen on developing clear brand messaging and an innovation strategy aligned with this meaningful brand persona. Beginning with research, we familiarized ourselves with the consumer through social listening, conversations with users, and landscape analysis. This foundation informed our design priorities and requirements. Market research, competitive visual brand language exploration, and inspiration gathered surrounding form, dispensing, and surface detailing/finish further enhanced our design direction as we moved into concept generation and refinement.
Backed by actionable research insights, our design team moved into rapid ideation. We began sketching a wide range of concepts tailored to meeting the needs and desires of caregivers/parents applying lotion to their baby/toddler. Together, we refined concepts further to meet Junico’s value proposition within the market, focusing on effortless use, travel-friendly design, and a stunning appearance on shelves and in the home. The final concept evolved into a unique and sleek form that was sure to wow consumers. This outcome is a user-driven, brand-forward solution that united beauty, performance, and production feasibility.
Junico’s baby lotion bottle embodies elevated simplicity with a sculptural, counter-worthy form. The discreet rear pump not only creates a clean, sophisticated silhouette that captures attention on-shelf, but also provides generous front-facing space for authentic brand storytelling that resonates with parents seeking an easy-to-understand and trustworthy product. Travel convenience is apparent with a compact footprint and simple toggle locking mechanism, offering parents leak-free confidence wherever they go. A standout feature is the intuitive, one-handed dispensing pump that allows parents to keep one hand on their baby or toddler while easily accessing lotion, supported by a stable base that prevents tipping. The final design demonstrates how purposeful design attention to the user experience can transform an everyday product into a trusted companion in parent’s daily routines.
