Magic Eraser Shower & Tub Scrubber + Design Impact
Customers are always looking to get the best bang for their buck. In searching for ways to help customers use Magic Eraser scrubbers more effectively, Procter and Gamble designed a shower & tub scrubber tool. This enabled the Magic Erasers to last longer, and for the consumer to reach all the nooks and crannies of showers and tubs more effectively.
P&G collaborated with Design Central for help in designing a secure attachment method for the magic erasers to the shower scrubber tool. While it seems like a small problem, it required many iterations and numerous physical prototypes to design an attachment method that would hold the erasers securely on the scrubber tool, enable effective cleaning, and prevent the Magic Eraser from being torn apart by the scrubbing action.
The result was to incorporate small, arrow-shaped prongs that secured the sponge to the tool, and tabs at the top and bottom of the tool to make connecting the eraser more intuitive. The final design increased the effectiveness of Magic Eraser shower scrubbers while balancing manufacturability and cost.
Design Central also designed the structural packaging for the product, focusing on sustainability as well as product visibility on the shelf. The entirety of the packaging is cardboard, enabling it to be easily recycled. By exposing the scrubber head, customers get a real, tactile understanding of the product immediately.
With creative thinking, rapid prototyping, and astute awareness of user experience, Design Central helped P&G to maximize customer satisfaction while balancing manufacturing and considerations.
We are happy to help companies turn ideas into reality, whether that means assisting with specific aspects of a project or driving the process from start to finish. Interested in working on a design project with Design Central? Contact Tim Friar: [email protected]
