New Flyer Xcelsior CNG transit bus increases sustainable transportation across North America

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is changing the face of transportation in America. CNG is a clean, affordable, reliable fuel in abundant supply and used in consumer vehicles, commercial and government fleets, marine vessels and public transit. Agility Fuel Systems, a leading global provider of clean fuel solutions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, wanted to improve its roof-mounted CNG  fuel system to extend its business with NFI North America.

Hexagon Agility partnered with Design Central to develop a visual approach for a new roof-mounted CNG fuel system for mass transit buses to present to NFI North America. We explored part break-up, components housing, user accessibility to identify forms and overall vision to create the final concept and CAD surface geometry of the fuel system. In 2019 Agility Fuel Systems successfully partnered with New Flyer Industries Canada and New Flyer of America and are now celebrating the release of New Flyer’s next-generation xcelsior CHARGE CNG transit bus.
