Mesolite launches one-of-a-kind modular bag

Entrepreneurs and Mesolite co-founders Yasmin and Dalia first approached Design Central with a vision to meet their dynamic lifestyle: a way to combine daily bags specific to work, the gym, and more. Through strategic future design planning, material sourcing, and rapid soft goods prototyping came Mesolite’s Base Bag and Modules, a carrying system that evolves as you do.

Mesolite’s product is a one-of-a-kind bag designed to accommodate a variety of modules, making users’ everyday travels more effective, enjoyable, and elevated. The patented Base Bag H-Frame construction is protective and structurally made possible by intricate soft and hard textile construction. Currently, the base Module can be converted to an expandable over-the-shoulder bag. Additional features include a 15” laptop sleeve, chest support strap, grab handles, and structural compartmentalization.

From the start, Mesolite was an intentional project. Our team helped develop an infinitely expandable system that allows for future module additions. Next, finding the right manufacturer involved a thorough sourcing endeavor to combine thermoforming and cut-and-sew construction. This incredibly unique design required Design Central to outline potential processes for the manufacturer to understand how to effectively meet the Mesolite team’s goals for the modular system.

Our in-house prototyping was essential to the development process. By using CNC machining, laser cutting, sewing, and team members’ soft goods expertise, we created rapid mockups that accelerated decision-making and refined the product’s scale, feel, and function—saving both time and cost compared to overseas manufacturer samples.

As Mesolite prepares for its launch event on November 6th in Detroit, MI, we congratulate the Mesolite team on reaching this exciting milestone. The event will feature custom, bespoke, limited edition release bags. Our team had the opportunity to assist Mesolite in creating these unique and stunning designs using our in-studio paint lab, UV printer, and more. This launch marks the exciting culmination of hard work, collaboration, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of soft goods design.
